    June Artist of the Month
    Judi A. Gorski

    June 1 - July 6th, 2007
    Paradise Artist’s Grotto

Judi GorskiJudi A. Gorski was born and educated in New York through high school.  She grew up spending winters in Queens and summers on Long Island at the beaches near the Hamptons. Judi studied art at the University of Miami and the University of North Florida before hitchhiking from Florida to San Francisco in the early 1970’s. Judi made San Francisco her permanent home in 1978. While working full-time in law offices, Judi continued to study art at the San Francisco Art Institute, the San Francisco Academy of Art, and San Francisco State University, where in 1991 she graduated as a painting major with a BA in Art.  Since then, Judi has opened JAG’s Art Studio at the Beach where she creates and sells her original fine art paintings, limited edition giclee prints and other hand made items.

Judi’s love of the beach and the life that surrounds it is an ongoing inspiration that influences most of her artwork. For the past several years, she has been creating a series of paintings about surfers and beach life. Most of the pieces in this series are painted realistically in acrylic on canvas. This is the series that is featured this month at Paradise Surf Shop.

Judi’s portfolio also includes impressionistic and representational paintings of California native flowers, and some scenes by the Russian River in Healdsburg, a small rural town in Sonoma County’s wine country, where she often spends long weekends with family and friends.

Painters who inspire and motivate Jude include Robert Bechtle and David Hockney, Paul Pratchenko, and her favorite and most inspirational professor at San Francisco State, oil painter E. Dale Erickson, who taught her perspective and realism and whose work she has colleted and continues to study.  Judi’s good friend Anna Conti is also a great inspiration to Judi as they paint together and whose work she admires and collects.

All artwork being shown at Paradise is for sale.

PARADISE SURF SHOP NAMED IN 100 PLACES EVERY WOMAN SHOULD GO TRAVEL GUIDE!

100 Places Every Woman Should GoThe latest trend in travel guides has readers following lists of everything from where to kiss to places you can’t miss before dying. But for women, no book on the market has the focus, range, or scope of 100 Places Every Woman Should Go. After a lifetime of globe-trotting and interviewing travelers, award-winning author Stephanie Elizondo Griest has compiled the definitive list of top 100 destinations for women. 100 Places Every Woman Should Go points the way to places around the world of inspiration and enlightenment, adventure, and historical places where heroines battled for the right to speak, vote, rule, and be free.

Paradise Surf Shop owner, Sally Smith, couldn’t be more pleased. “I was caught by surprise when I received a letter in the mail, along with a certificate of appreciation from the publisher, Travelers’ Tales out of Palo Alto, announcing the inclusion of my store in the book” Smith said. “What an honor to be featured in the first travel book of its kind” Smith went on to say. “I immediately ordered the books to sell at Paradise – anything I can do to help promote women’s enlightenment and encourage women to travel outside of their own community to see how others live will help our world a better place.”

This revolutionary traveler’s guide book also includes a list of top 10 travel tips and a list of tour groups specifically designed for women adventurers.

100 Places Every Woman Should Go is on sale at Paradise Surf Shop and retails for $16.95. Drop on in and get your copy now before they sell out! Call Paradise Surf Shop at 831-462-3880 for more information.
